Individual Counselling

Individual counselling is a collaborative process in which I develop a unique, confidential helping relationship with an individual.  In this relationship, I act as a facilitator to help the individual to understand more accurately him/herself and the world around him/her. The two of us explore his/her feelings , and thinking  patterns ,  behaviours, relationships with others, choices and decisions, as well as his/her current situation. I help the person to be able to talk privately in a safe environment about personal concerns, identify and express his/her feelings about past experiences, explore ways to manage stress, anxiety, sadness or frustration, and learn ways to help him/herself  feel better now and in the future.

Individual, short-term counselling can assist you in clarifying your concerns, assessing the effectiveness of previous attempted solutions, and generating new coping strategies.

Couples Counselling

Couples counselling is needed when the lines of communication in a marriage or partnership have broken down, making it impossible to relate to one another in a mutually beneficial way. Also couples seek counselling for some common reasons such as trust issues, major life transitions, money problems, blended families, coping with each other’s extended family, lack of intimacy and personality differences. Confronting your issues as a couple with the help of the counsellor can be an opportunity for personal growth. I offer a chance for both parties to explore issues in a safe and neutral environment while focusing on solution focused approaches and problem solving techniques.

Child and Family Counselling

Although people often think of counselling as being something that is done one –on-one between a counsellor and child, it can also often be helpful for resolving conflicts within a family and for the counsellor to see the family dynamic, how family members react and relate to each other. I help family see the problem in a different perspective, improve the social and psychological functioning of children and their families, and maximize the family well-being and academic achievement of the child.  Counselling approaches are designed to address issues of trauma, attachment; daily functioning, domestic violence and issues that family feels are harmful to their well-being.
